The Cross Country finals take place tomorrow Thursday May 17th at Corkagh Park. This year 72 schools have participated and tomorrow we will be among 3,400 children taking part. We cannot wait and have been training towards this big event over the past number of months ! Well done to every child who has been part of the training and even if you haven’t made the final team, you are a winner in improving your fitness and stamina over distance !
First race tomorrow will be the sixth class girls and boys, followed by fifth, fourth and third. Events will get underway at 10.00 a.m. sharp. There will be a champions race at the end of each section for all children who have been placed first in any of the local races.
Children will travel by bus from the school to the venue. Schools will enter at the Camac Valley entrance to Corkagh Park…. Green Isle road. This is a drop off area for buses dropping children. There are two car parks that Parents/ Guradians can avail of, one off the R136 (Corkagh Park….Fisher) and the other at the St. John entrance to Corkagh park, the event is a short walk – 10 mins for either car park.
We look forward to have a great day’s running. The weather looks promising so best to bring the suncream and rain jacket! Hope to see lots of Parents/ friends at the venue to encourage and support the team.
