Newsletter 8th May

8th May 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians

Hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend.

This week children in classes first to sixth will begin doing their standardised tests in literacy and Maths. These will be completed next week. We ask that you ensure your child arrives on time for school as tests will begin as soon as children arrive in school in the morning. To avoid disruption to classes children arriving late will have to have the tests administered to them at an alternative time.

20 year celebration

We are planning a very creative weaving project based on our life experiences and journeys through the years we attended Lucan Educate Together, as part of our twenty year celebration in October. We will be using old CD’s and fibres and wools for this project.

We will be providing you with information shortly and look forward to all families past and present making a contribution. To help us get started , we are looking for donations of colourful wools, yarns, embroidery threads, thin lace…..the main priority is that they are thin and can be woven onto the CD. There will a box at reception for anyone who would like to donate. Many thanks in advance.

Birthday Parties

It has come to our attention that some families are making arrangements for their child’s birthday party through the school.  This can cause some upset for children who are not invited. We would like to avoid any situation which causes unnecessary upset to children and are requesting that all arrangements regarding birthday parties or similar social events are made outside of the school day and grounds. Thank you for your co-operation.

Cross Country finals

The school will have a team of 50 children from classes third to sixth taking part in the finals of the Cross Country league at Corkagh park on Thursday May 11th. The children selected will be transported by bus from the school at 9.00 a.m. The first race gets underway at 10.00 a.m. promptly. There will be a champion’s race at the end of each class group. South Dublin County Council allocate the spaces in this race, based on individual’s performance on the previous three races.

Children have been advised to wear suitable clothes and bring extra lunch and drinks with them. Parents are welcome to join us at Corkagh park to support the children. Race location is the entrance after Camac Valley Caravan Park. We wish everyone a very enjoyable and safe day. Well done to all the children who have been part of the series of runs over the winter months. Unfortunately numbers are limited for the finals day in Corkagh  park but we would like to thank all the children for their fantastic effort and commitment. They are all winners in achieving their personal goals and physical fitness. Well done to all and best of luck to our team.

Our Camogie and Hurling teams continue to do very well and at this stage our camogie girls have reached the quarter finals. Well done to all the boys and girls and staff involved for their consistent efforts.
