Report from B.O.M….. April Meeting 2017
The Department of Education has issued guidelines to schools on staffing levels for September 2017. The B.O.M. have considered these and the implications for recruitment of new staff for the coming school year.
Enrolments for places in our Senior Infants to Sixth classes will begin after Easter. The B.O.M are putting arrangements in place for this process.
A number of projects are in progress at the moment and are being managed jointly by our Executive and B.O.M. These include replacement of furniture in some of our classrooms, drawing up a maintenance list of work to be done inside and outside the building over the summer months, replacement of astro turf surface and planning for 20 year celebration of the school. The B.O.M. were presented with progress reports of all projects at our meeting.
A proposal for astro-turf resurfacing is being finalised and will go to tender shortly. The B.O.M. have been considering various ways of sourcing funding for the substantial costs involved in a project of this scale.
A working group has been formed to organise the 20th Anniversary celebration. It is being proposed to have a community day on October 14th for past and present families as the main part of the celebration. Plans will be getting underway shortly and we will be appealing for your support in making this a fantastic day for everyone who has been part of the journey of the school.
A planning application has been submitted to South Dublin County Council for the land adjacent to the school. The B.O.M. considered the proposal and the likely implications for the school and whether a submission should be made to the council in relation to the proposal. The B.O.M. are giving further consideration to this.
The AGM of Educate Together will take place on Saturday May 17th. The B.O.M. have discussed and put forward a number of draft motions for consideration at the AGM. These will be made available to the school community once they are finalised.
The B.O.M would like to thank all Parents who came to the Garda Vetting open night prior to our meeting on Monday evening. There was a very positive response. It is planned to hold another open night before the end of the year. A reminder that garda vetting forms are always available from the office. Once the one page form is completed and accompanied by a copy of an ID and recent utility bill, the application can be verified and forwarded for processing. The entire process is currently taking approximately 3 weeks. Thank you to all who have applied and for your generosity in giving of your talent/time to our school.
A huge thank you to the PTA and volunteers who have organised the Easter Raffle. Thanks to the entire school community for your support of this fundraising event. The final amount raised was €2240. Well done to all involved.
The recent book fair was a huge success, thanks to the staff members who organised it and to all those who supported it. Books worth in excess of €2,000 will now be provided to the school as a result
We would like to wish everyone a very relaxing Spring holiday.
