Dear Parents/Guardians,

Board of Management Report…. February 2018

The Board of Management met last week and would like to update the school community as follows:

A reminder that the school will be closed on Wednesday 14th March for staff training on the Primary Language Integrated Curriculum.

As you may be aware the Department has issued new Child Protection Guidelines for all schools [circular 81/2017]. The school will close at 12.15 p.m. on Friday March 2ndand Friday March 9th for staff training on the revised child protection guidelines.

We are continuing to replace the classroom furniture on a phased basis. We appreciate very much your support which enables us to undertake projects such as this, which is essential in the upkeep of the school. The new furniture looks great and is giving a fresh new look to the classrooms. Leigh Ann and John have been doing a great job on recycling the old furniture and have managed to get a new home for most of it to date. If anyone is interested in having some of old furniture that is currently being replaced, please leave your name with Veronica at the office and we will add your name to the list.

The Department of Education has set out the staffing allocations for 2018/2019 and these will be reviewed in the coming weeks. The school continues to experience difficulty in finding sub teachers to cover short term absences.

The Data Protection Policy is being reviewed to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection requirement which comes into effect in May 2018.

At this stage, nearly all of the places have been filled for Junior Infants for September 2018. Enrolments for places in our senior infants to sixth classes will be accepted from Wednesday 11th April between 12.30p.m. and 2p.m. Enrolments for  our Outreach classes for September 2018  continue on Wednesdays.

A joint meeting of the Executive Committee (Patron of the school) and the Board will take place on February 21st @ 8p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to look at a number of school projects which could be progressed during the year. More details to follow

We wish everyone a very relaxing midterm break on Thursday February 15th and Friday 16th. Many thanks for all your support.

Yours sincerely,

B.O.M.
