Active Club - Committee Meeting

On Friday afternoon the recently elected members of our Active Committee gathered in the library for the first time as a group with Donal and Shauna. There was much on the agenda to be discussed so no time was wasted. Each of the members of the commitee received their very one 'Active School' badge which they will wear while representing their classes on committee duty. The first item discussed by the team was ideas for getting the whole school involved in a team event. The idea that was decided on was a whole school relay marathon. A date will be confirmed by the team at the next meeting. The next item discussed was possibilities for a school active slogan.

Badminton in 6th Class

Donal's 6th class have been developing their badminton skills each week for the month of February. Having got comfortable with holding the racket, picking up on the rules of badminton and taking part in friendly rallies both in teams and with one other partner the children are now ready to move onto playing competitive matches after the Midterm Break. The class have enjoyed it immensely and it is fair to say that exciting times lie ahead!!!!

Gymnastics in 2nd Class

In Karen's 2nd class, this week we have started gymnastics. We started by exploring the different ways of moving while we had P.E. outdoors on Monday. We then worked in pairs to create a sequence using three different types of movement - feet only, hands and a feet and a jump to finish.

LETS Run a Mile Challenge

Today we ran our first Mile Challenge for the school year 2017/18. There were amazing performances all round with over 150 children from 3rd-6th class taking part. Every participant got a coloure coded wrist band at the finish line. All the hard work and training in the park since September has paid off as everyone thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. More athletics news to follow in term 2 when we will start cross country training!

Maths Trail for Maths Week

The two fourth classes joined forces for a Maths Trail around the school grounds. Together, we measured areas, spotted 2D shapes, looked out for angles and solved problems on the giant snakes and ladders square.

September in Fourth Class

Enjoying some sunny weather on our school playground, getting to know our new classmates.

Junior Infants go exploring

Every Thursday Yvonne and Shauna's Junior Infants have PE together. We practice the games we learn in PE. It's a lot of fun to go the Senior yards and to run around on the astroturf.
