Staff Relay

We had 10 teachers from LETS participate in the Staff Relay 5km race in the Phoenix Park this year. For some, it was their first 5km race but definitely won't be their last. It was a warm evening so tough running conditions but that didn't stop our runners! Well done to everyone invloved!

Daily Yard Activities

In LETNS we are lucky to have a playground that all the children have access to. The infants use the play ground at break times and all other classses have allocated slots during the school week. We also have large games on our yards such as Pinball, Mazes and Connect 4. Fifth and sixth classes use the basketball hoops at lunch time and first, second, third and fourth classes can skip or use chunky ground chalk to draw. Classes rotate through the activities each week and all get a chance to play on the astro turf pitches too.

Bike Rack

One of the main projects of the Student Council work on this year was fund raising for a new sheltered bike rack. This will encourage children to cycle or bring their scooters to school. We had held a crazy hair day in term 1 and there will be additional fund raising initiatives next year tso that construction of the bike rack can commence.

5th Class School Tour

5th Class had a great time on their school tour in Malahide. The class got the opportunity to tour Malahide Castle and gardens. As well as this the children went kayaking and on a boat, here they played some water acitivites and games. The children all enjoyed the day. Take a look at the photos from the day below.

6th Class School Tour

6th class had a brilliant day on their last school tour. They went to Baltinglass where they participated in the following outdoor activities: 1) archery, 2) rock climbing, 3) kayaking, 4) abseiling, 5) orienteering and 6) kayaking. All children had a great time and the weather was beautiful also! Take a look at the photos below to see some of the activities from the tour.

Croke Park

Active Week got off to a wonderful start last Monday, with a visit to Croke Park. Our boys hurling team from 3rd - 6th class progressed to Croke Park this year. Children from 3rd - 6th class went to Croke Park to show their support for the team. The team played brilliantly! They showed extreme dedication and commitment to the match and to one another. Unfortunately, the boys did not win the match, but they left Croke Park smiling. They were so proud of their achievements, as are we all. Well done to all the staff who have helped with the GAA teams this year and to Derek and Donal for training the boys team.

Zumba

4th Class had great fun in P.E. this year. They had 4 weeks of Zumba classes with their Zumba teacher, Fiona. The children learned lots of fun moves, shared some of their own moves and danced along to some of their favourite songs. Take a look at the photos below to see how much fun they had.

Gymnastics Lessons and After-School Gymnastics

Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class had some exciting P.E. lessons this year. They had a gymnastics teacher, Rachel, visit them for 8 weeks to teach them a number of different gymnastics skills. The children had the opportunity to explore a range of balances and movements. They thoroughly enjoyed this, so much so that we began gymnastics as an after-school activity.

Football

Well done to all the children who participated in afterschool football this school year. Children made excellent progress in their skills, made new friends and had lots of fun. We had a wonderful team of children this year and we hope that all the children will make sure to go outside during the summer and use their skills and play some football.

Each class, from 1st to 4th class attends 8 weeks of swimming lessons every year. The children have made great improvements in their swimming and confidence in the water this year. Well done to all the children on another great year of swimming lessons! Keep up the swimming over summer and we will begin a new term of swimming lessons in September.
