April Cross Country Races

Race Report by Aoife & Aisling from 6th Class

It was a lovely, sunny beautiful spring day.

The sun was out and so were the schools.

Everyone was warming up and the 3rd classes were getting ready for their race.

We had lots of good races from the 3rd classes, a few 1st and 2nd places.

LETS Marathon Relay

The LETS Marathon Relay will be taking place next Wednesday 25th of April on out Astroturf. All the children, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class (and even some teachers and parents!), will be taking part and running a section of the relay. By the end of the day we will have ran a grand total of 42.2km as a team. Children are asked to donate €2 to take part in this event. The Active Flag Committee will be meeting to decide what new piece of PE equipment to buy with the funds raised. We are looking forward to seeing everyone participating and having fun on the day!

LETS Active Flag Pupil Survey

We would love your feedback to help our school to achieve our Active Flag! The Active Flag Committee have been working long and hard to design a survey to find out how we can make the school and it's pupils as active as possible.

South Dublin Libraries Quiz 2018

Congratulations to our 5th & 6th Class participants in the South Dublin Libraries Quiz 2018.

The Quiz Heat took place in Lucan Library on 2nd February, followed by the Quiz Final in Tallaght Library on 9th February.

Well done to the 6th Class participants for placing 5th in the Final!

Happy International Women's Day

The Ethos Committee talked this week about International Women's Day and they came up with a woman in their lives or someone famous who inspires them. Enjoy this video of the children talking about women who inspire them!

Science Project Donal's 6th

Donal's 6th class spent a number of afternoons over the past two weeks planning, designing and making a project in class. The children were split into groups of 3 and 4. The level cooperation and teamwork within each of the groups was magnificent from the planning stage right up until the completion of them. The children were asked to design and make a rocket which would be judged by Siobhan. The quality of the rockets were so good it left Siobhan with an extremely difficult choice to make and one she spent a long time thinking about. Please take some time to flick through the slideshow and check out the great work from 6th class. Well to everyone who took part!

1st Place: Michelle, Anna & Lena

Badminton in 6th Class

Donal's 6th class have been developing their badminton skills each week for the month of February. Having got comfortable with holding the racket, picking up on the rules of badminton and taking part in friendly rallies both in teams and with one other partner the children are now ready to move onto playing competitive matches after the Midterm Break. The class have enjoyed it immensely and it is fair to say that exciting times lie ahead!!!!

February Cross Country in Griffeen Park

Thye February Cross Country was a great success. The children really enjoyed the day even though the conditions were tough. Brilliant running from everyone! Well done all! Have a look at our photos.

Athletics in LETS

After our really successful Run a Mile Challenge in December we are now ready to start our Cross Country training. We will be continuing to run twice a week in Willsbrook Park with children from 3rd-6th class. Our first race will be in mid February.

LETS Run a Mile Challenge

Today we ran our first Mile Challenge for the school year 2017/18. There were amazing performances all round with over 150 children from 3rd-6th class taking part. Every participant got a coloure coded wrist band at the finish line. All the hard work and training in the park since September has paid off as everyone thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. More athletics news to follow in term 2 when we will start cross country training!
