FABULOUS FACTS by Tamasine's 2nd Class

Every week in 2nd Class someone takes home our book of 'Fabulous Facts' to write in.  We have been amazed during the year by what we have been taught!

Here are some from this week that were found by Aizak.  He decided to research facts about cats around the world.

In size, the biggest cats are tigers, lions, jaguars, leopards, snow leopards, pumas and cheetahs.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Tá seachtain na Gaeilge ar siúl sa scoil ó 9ú Márta go dtí 13ú Márta.  Tá go leor imeachtaí ar siúl i ngach rang. 

 

Dé Luain – Tá scéalaíocht dátheangach sa halla do páistí beaga.

Dé Mháirt – Tá tráth na gceist ar siúl do na hardranganna.

Dé Chéadaoin – Tá rince sa halla do gach rang.

Déardaoin – Tá seisiúin ceol sa halla do gach rang.

Dé hAoine – Tá ‘Lá glas’ ann arís agus tá tionól sa halla ag 9:00am agus 11:00am

World Maths Day in Second Class

Today in Karen's second class, we had lots of fun with maths. We played our favourite maths games! We played the table champion game and mathmagician game online. You can find it here, to play at home http://resources.oswego.org/games/mathmagician/maths1.html. Today, we reached a score of 97 questions in 5 minutes, we are hoping to reach 100 in our next game! We also completed problem solving activities, played shape bingo, a card game, a dice game and snakes and ladders. 

World Book Day

This is another busy week for everyone at L.E.T.S. with World Maths Day on Wednesday March 4th and World Book Day on Thursday March 5th We will be marking World Maths day with various additional maths activities, games, maths trails etc.  Some useful websites you may be interested in viewing to support your child in Maths….. www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths. www.funbrain.com www.coolmath4kids.com  www.multiplication.com  www.nrich.mathsorg.

Green Day

Our school was a sea of green today as we had a very busy action day as we continue to work towards our first green flag.  We started the day with two wonderful assemblies.  Many classes showed us their wonderful art creations using recycled materials.  We had songs and poems around the theme of recycling and caring for the environment.  We had a detailed account of 5th class’s trip to Ballymount Recycling Centre where we learned some very interesting fact about where and how our waste is disposed of.  Parents were then invited to view all the art projects on display around the school.  The children were also involved in many activities in their classrooms around the theme of recycling.  It was a great day an

Karen's 2nd Class - Weather

We have been learning about the topic of weather in second class. We loved singing this song about the weather:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T05djitkEFI We created instruments used to measure weather.

Rain Gauges

We made rain gauges using plastic bottles. They measure the amount of precipitation by collecting liquid inside. We left them outside and checked on them.
