The school grounds have been buzzing with excitement and sporting activity since we kick started our mini Olympic event on Monday morning. Even the weather has been working in our favour!

The PTA have provided huge support for our school team, particularly with producing the Opening Ceremony video, featuring several athletes from a variety of levels, sports and backgrounds, wishing the children well with their Olympic week and also footage of golden Olympic moments, both Irish and international. It was truly impressive and we all loved it.

This morning Paralympian Orla Comerford shared a live Zoom meeting with all our classes. She was passionate about her sport and encouraged the children so positively to always “follow their dream” no matter what that is. The children had some amazing questions for Orla ranging from how her interest in sport developed to her training regime, diet and dealings with stress and disappointment. It was lovely to have this opportunity to meet and chat with an athlete at the highest level and we will be following Orla with great interest on the road to Tokyo. Go for it Orla!!
